How I learned to grow my own garden

Coincidentally, in these articles I am going to tell you a little about how this gratifying experience that I am living with you is going.

In case you don’t know, the YouTube channel is my final project, normally when future agronomists consider this type of work they think of planning a vineyard, going to cooperate in a developing country or improving the machinery in a potato chip factory… Engineering stuff, more classic jobs that have a bibliography where you can draw on or more tangible and clear examples.

But I personally like challenges, I am a creative person, a restless ass, and the audiovisual subject has always called me a lot (in another life I always wanted to be a journalist, audiovisual communicator or something like that that would allow me to be behind or in front of a camera). So when my tutor and coordinator of www.agrohuerto.com, Luis Ruiz, gave his approval to my proposal to create an educational channel on urban gardens so that ordinary people could see how to make a garden from scratch, no It will not take me 10 minutes to dive into the whole world of orchard production, management, graphic design, video montage and photography.etc…

Beginnings are always difficult

At first I was very lost, it took me about 4 days to understand how the Countour camera that accompanies me worked, which by the way belongs to a friend and 6 months after starting this I still haven’t returned it… I won’t even tell you how long it took me in cropping the first photo, in understanding the.png format and the advantages it had, in editing the first video with Sony Vegas, etc…

New topics for me, which I had never heard of in the race, but with a minimum of effort and dedication you can always handle even a little. From my personal experience I tell you that currently with the tutorials that exist on YouTube anyone can master the program they want.

Practical tips for gardening

Technicalities aside, the idea of ​​all this is that people like me, anyone who can have a piece of land, do not think twice about growing food on it, gardens are very satisfying and it does not take much to start with one. It’s not difficult, it’s not expensive, and it only requires minimal daily attention.

With these videos I intend to transmit all these aspects from a pleasant perspective for you, very technical videos are boring, anyone who has never heard of what they eat, beyond watching Discovery Max programs or reading the cereal box, no He will be interested in orchards, hence I eat my head with each introduction and label to offer you an entertaining content and that you enjoy the videos as much as I do.

So last Easter I sowed the first seeds and looked for the appropriate space to start with this challenge of making videos to cultivate the garden. Currently my friends, neighbors and acquaintances are more than hated to eat the products that I have harvested, they are a great alternative to give away on birthdays, have some detail and of course your culinary skills, even if you don’t even know how to fry an egg, they will be seen more than implemented when cooking with your own vegetables.

I know that many of you do not have the means that I have used in the videos, and if you do not know what I mean, you will see, but you have to understand that if things can be done more efficiently with other techniques, you should not waste it, the message for everyone is the same and the ecological management of the garden is the same as that given in an urban garden in the community of Madrid.

What is my main goal?

My main goal is for you to see how a wasteland can be transformed into an orchard in just a few steps, and this can be translated into a pot or a fishmonger’s box if you think of another scale and put the same interest in it.

It goes without saying that all of you who have a plot of land in town or similar are wasting precious time calling someone to take it for a spin with the cultivator or tricking 4 friends into going over it with the hoe, I’m sure It does not cost you more than two rounds, and thus you can enjoy this experience from the first sowing to the long-awaited harvest.
