How to Fertilize Plants to Grow Faster – Sembrar100: Our Method

For plants to grow healthy and vigorous, they need to have a series of very specific care.

Fertilizers are a fundamental part of them and applying them correctly in their first moments of life will be decisive for what you will obtain in the future.

Of course, it is not about paying just for doing it. In fact, paying more than necessary could cause as many or more problems than a nutrient deficit.

So it is better to have very clear data about this whole process and that is exactly what we are going to see next. Are you coming?

Why is it necessary to fertilize plants to make them grow faster?

The most normal thing when sowing any type of plant is that we do it in a land with good characteristics. That is: that it be fertile and with some amount of organic matter. Which is great to start with.

The problem is that the substrates are not capable of renewing the nutrients that they have transferred to the plants by themselves. For that reason, these decrease as time goes by, leaving the plants without enough contributions to support the growth phase.

This is an even more frequent reality in those plants that you have planted in pots. Each irrigation you apply will wash the soil, removing even more nutrients.

What types of fertilizers are used for plants to grow?

This is a very important issue, not only in the fertilizers that you will have to apply for them to grow, but in all of them in general: they must be organic.

The first reason is that the plants, especially those that produce fruits, will generate food that will be consumed by human beings, so you must ensure that they develop in perfect conditions.

The second is that mineral fertilizers are capable of nourishing plants, but they affect the conditions of the substrate, so its quality will gradually deteriorate. And the good conditions that the substrate had at the beginning will be lost, preventing it from being used again.

How to make homemade compost step by step for plants to grow?

Homemade organic matter such as home compost could be considered the quintessential fertilizer for plants, since it provides all the necessary nutrients and improves the conditions of the substrate.

The main thing is that the compost is rich in nitrogen (or any other organic fertilizer you decide to use).

Nitrogen will be in charge of promoting the growth of the green parts of the plant, which is just what you need before it starts producing. To prepare it, follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. Dig a hole in the ground or get a container, preferably round, at least 1 meter deep. This should be located in a shaded area.
  2. Fill in the base with gardening soil. If you do it directly in the garden, this step will not be necessary.
  3. Incorporate organic remains of vegetable matter that you have left over from the kitchen, such as vegetable and fruit peels, egg shells, coffee grounds, tea bag filling, etc. You can even take advantage of dry leaves from the garden. You should not include plastic, paper or remains of meat products.
  4. Add an extra layer of soil on top of organic debris to cover it up and keep it cool, if possible. If the environment feels too hot, lightly water once or twice a week.
  5. Stir the mixture from the bottom to the top once a week so that everything is homogenized.

When it’s ready, the compost will be a dark, moist soil. You collect this and add it to the environment of the plants when you need it.

It is important to ensure that the entire mixture is well processed (it should not smell bad) because this is what will ensure that the nutrients are usable. Other homemade compost options that you can also use are: manure, guano or earthworm humus.

At what time should the plants be fertilized so that they grow faster?

Fertilizer times to promote growth are developed: before sowing, during growth and after winter. Let’s see each one.

Before planting

This is the preparation stage that you will have to carry out so that the plant you are going to plant finds the most suitable environment to grow.

Although there are plants that are not so demanding with this issue, it is always best to give them the previous contributions they need and thus make them healthier.

Ideally, add organic matter to the substrate and stir to make it become a more or less homogeneous compound.

during growth

It is the phase in which the plant will begin to form its structure and foliage. There are species that grow quickly, while others take years in this phase. Whatever the condition, it is necessary to provide them with a good amount of nitrogen with appropriate planning to achieve the expected results.

after winter

Coming out of winter dormancy, plants need an injection of nitrogen to facilitate the greening process.

This becomes even more essential when the plant has been subjected to pruning after the productive cycle of the previous year.

It is common, for example, in some types of fruit trees and flowering plants that develop vigorously and need to be worked with pruning to care for them.

Fertilizer plans for plants to grow faster will help them to form properly and to be healthier, with better color and more brightness.

All this will have a direct impact on its productive capacity, whether it is flowering or fruit production. The important thing in all this is to understand the state of the plant, its needs, decide on a good fertilizer and apply it at the right time.

Then, you just have to sit back and wait for nature to do its magic and your plant starts to grow as you wanted.
